• Strong knowledge in front-end development technologies (HTML/CSS/Javascript(jQuery)/Ajax)
• Good understanding of MySQL and fairly complex SQL queries
• Experience with Mac OS X and Linux environments and ability to set up web servers (Apache/Nginx) and enable deployment with Capistrano
• Ability to solve problems and find the best solutions for them
• Knowledge of OAUTH and 3rd party APIs (Especially Facebook)
• Experience developing Web services API and work with iPhone apps

Good-to-haves

• Experience with making sites compatible across browsers (including IE6)
• Working with version control systems (Subversion and Git)
• TDD/BDD skills (not required, but nice to have)
• Interest in sports and fitness is a plus
• Basic iPhone/Android development knowledge/skills.

In exchange, we will offer you a fun and interesting place to work in a start-up-type work environment.

Salary: £32K – £38K depending on experience.

New Challenge Posters

We’ve knocked up some high quality posters for 4 of our most popular challenges. They should be good enough quality to print A3.

This is what they look like:

Just download the images below, resize to fit your page and print! We’re pretty confident they’re eye catching enough to get people’s attention (a tad psychedelic?)

Please send us any photos of these posters on display! We love that kind of feedback.

Also, if anyone’s interested in helping us produce these as badges to sell in reception then please get in touch!

Thanks

Clubs on Splashpath

We’ve now added clubs to Splashpath. We’ve created a club timetable that can list their weekly activity and the sites they train at.

It looks like this:

Challenge badges

“Toby started the Nile challenge yesterday evening at Virgin Active in Mill Hill (we’re down in London for the weekend) and was super motivated. He swam the best we’ve ever seen him by a country mile and completed 16 lengths of an 11 metre pool – he was very chuffed to see he’s 20% through the challenge already”

- Jamie, a Splashpath User.

We love this kind of feedback. That’s why we’re working on Splashpath Badges you can order and sew on your trunks ^_^

(design still in development!.. yes we know it has the distance twice :P )

Market Ting’s

Download the poster to print here!

Taking a short break from working on the website we’ve produced some promotional materials for participating sites to use. We’re gonna run off about 500 of each to send to the early Splashpath adopters..

The best way to increase the amount of favourite swimmers at your swimming pool it to display these posters. If you don’t know about it you can’t use it right? – Send an email to dan[at]splashpath.com and we’ll get some free posters/wobblers shipped out.

Oh and if you’re looking for some marketing assets we’ve put together a chunk of goodness here

iPhone App Preview

We’re getting really really close to launching the Splashpath iPhone app and thought it was time we shared some screenshots with y’all. We’re also looking for some testers so email: danmorgz[at]gmail.com if you’re interested in helping us squash some bugs.

Timetable now with Calendar and optional 12-hour time

Finals and new features

So.. we super excited to announce that Splashpath is through the finals of the Go London NHS Competition. The competition has been delayed until early May so hopefully a little more time to choose what to wear…

You can see the press release here

We’ve also been busy bee’s.. working in the gorgeous sun…

What have we been making? .. well we’ve almost put the finishing touches to an automated process of pulling in Pool times from .csv files. What does this mean? – Well for a start a pool operator can export their existing timetable from excel and load it straight into Splashpath. We’ve just done this for Everyone Active. It’s a great way to hit the ground running. The Operator still needs to login to do a bit of customisation. You can see the timetable below doesn’t yet have descriptions..

Oh and last weekend I had a BIG reminder why swimming is so awesome. On what seemed like the sunniest weekend of the year I had a couple of amazing days at London Fields Lido, followed by drinks and a picnic with friends. Even managed to get a tan by the poolside. Started this week feeling so relaxed.. thanks GLL! :-)

NHS Go London Pitch

We’ve entered Splashpath into the NHS Go London Competition.

It was quite refreshing to sharpen some rusty research skills, looking through NHS strategy documents and doing some homework on where similar IT systems to Splashpath have had positive impacts on other Industries.
